Re- Blanko, Sentimental Journey had a load of the stuff a few months ago, as did Warren at shoot and scoot.

Neither have any right now.

Hi, got the webbing today. It is a bit of a mixed bag but it was the last full lot of yellow coloured, the rest was RAF blue. The cross straps have been dyed green so they might be 44 pattern? I got a small pack, belt , 2 basic ammo, yoke, 2 short straps, a strange pair of additional pouches, might be bren 44 and another unidentified small satchel bag £18! Unfortunately the L straps and small pack shoulder strap are missing so does any one have some to sell or where can I get them cheap? I want to belt mount the small pack so is there any other bits I need?

There is also a box of tri pouches £1.75 ea if anyone is interested.

Or they may have been correctly blanco'd!

If you're mounting the small pack on the belt, you shouldn't need anything else. :)

Soldier of Fortune do good quality stuff, but it's not that cheap. I personally wouldn't recommend Replicaters - I've heard too many stories of rubbish goods.

What unit are you going to portray? :)

Hello, just wanted to ask where the best place to get a wool Battledress Uniform would be without breaking the bank. I have thought of Replicators but shipping (from India) and import taxes would kill me. Keith only sels Denims thus far so I dont know what to do. Should I wait for him sto come out with wools? Any suggestions?

Click

i emailed keith in HK and he will be doing Battledress Uniforms. no idea of when or what the quality will be like, but keep an eye on ebay.

As far as other suppliers go, like others i've heard that replicaters battledress is very thin and not great quality (though i've got their denims and dennison and i'm more than happy with them!)

other than that, you won't find anywhere selling them cheap, a couple of the main suppliers are:

http://www.motion-picture-props.com/
http://www.whatpriceglory.com/uklist.htm
and http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/

among others.

Hi, not wanting to reinforce my stupidity but the small pack has only 2" strap tails at the top and 1" buckles at the bottom plus the two shoulder strap buckles at the top side. Does it just use a coplu#e of straps looped into these or are the 2" strap tails used?

The crossovers are definately dyed. Anyone know how to get biro off webbing and if I end up dying the lot (waiting for Gadges experiments), anyone see that being an issue rather than blanco if it ever turns up?

Whats the biro say.

A lot of webbing is stamped or written on on the undersides

where you cant see it.

It will be a while til i start dying webbing so it might be worth someone experimenting with sofs liquid blanco

The cross straps should have a few inches protruding either end - i.e. at the back and at the front. Attach the buckles to that. There will be plenty of people to assist you at the next event, if you are struggling. It took me almost a day to work out how to do my webbing!

The below image is actually of a 1/6th scale set but will give you an idea of what can go where - it's the arrangement that Steiner is referring to in his above post. This is a set-up for a glider-borne infantryman - the small pack to the side being more comfortable when seated in the glider.

The more usual arrangement for paras and line infantry was to have the small pack on the back using two L-shaped straps each of which has a metal clip at the angle of the L which catches onto the buckle at the top of the universal pouches (the big oblong ones which go at the front)..... I don't have a picture of this latter arrangement tho....

Anyways, in case it helps:

PS: The entrenching tool stave shouldn't have the lower metal fixture..... it has since been removed.

I saw it at the Malvern show... had a chat with the SOF guy there about it... It's been made by some WWI re-enactors..

Thanks alot for the picture, speaks a thousand words and webbing is now more or less set up.

Anybody got ideas how to mount up the other pouches I got. They are dates 1940 and are as per a basic ammo pouch but without belt hooks. There is a top buckle and a long sewn on strap on one and a sleev for it on the other. Are they meant to go on standard webbing or am I missing something?

Those are anxcillary pouches for the spare ammo for the bren, carried by the bren no2 and shouldnt be blancoed.

The correct way to wear them is one over the left ammo pouch and one on your back, wide strap over your left shoulder, thin strap round the waist so you can shoulder a rifle. I reality they were often worn both on the front above each basic pouch with the thick strap round the back of the neck.

Either way you will find them a total pig to use....

I 2nd What gadge just said, Nice to look at & have, but not worth the effort. If you a buy the sten magazine bandoliers they will take Thompson & MP40 mags, and the 303 Bandolier will take BA rifle mags if you enlarge the pouches by removing the stitching. That reminds me, yith did yoy find any .303" bandoliers in the car after Wotan?
They are khaki and in a kind of cottony fabric if that helps.
